About Keith Haring
Pop Artist/Street Artist
(1958–1990)
Keith Haring was an American artist and activist whose bold, graphic style and energetic figures brought street art into the mainstream. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, Haring rose to fame in 1980s New York City, covering subway walls and canvases with vibrant imagery that expressed themes of love, unity, and social justice. His iconic motifs — radiant babies, barking dogs, and dancing figures — became universal symbols of joy and activism. Deeply committed to humanitarian causes, Haring used his art to raise awareness about AIDS, apartheid, and inequality before his untimely death at age 31.
